The Gospel Express Newspaper is styled and formatted after a publication, of the same name, that was published by a local Amityville minister by the name of Apostle Charles Jones. Apostle Jones printed a newspaper on a regular basis that was distributed at churches, restaurants and businesses throughout North Amityville for several years. Unfortunately, Apostle Jones died on May 11, 2022 after a lifetime of service to congregations in Brooklyn and Long Island. Apostle Jones was married to Dr. Maxine Reed Jones for 35 years and was the father of five children. As an entrepreneur and as the publisher of The Gospel Express, Apostle Jones had an enormous impact on several ministers in the New York area, many of who are great successes today. The Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and Vicinity has chosen to honor the legacy of Apostle Jones by naming its periodical after the legendary newspaper that was founded by Apostle Jones
