In a historic and emotionally moving ceremony, Dr. Gina Talbert was installed as the first female pastor in the long history of the First Church Ministries of Wyandanch on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 4 PM. Dr. Talbert, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU), steps into a role that carries deep personal significance as she succeeds her late husband, Bishop Michael Talbert, who previously pastored the congregation.

The sanctuary was filled with joy and reverence as local clergy, congregants, and community leaders gathered to witness this landmark moment. Dr. Talbert, a dynamic leader and educator, is not only making history in the church, but she also continues to have a profound impact on the local community in her capacity as the Superintendent of the Amityville Public School District. Prior to this role, she served as the Superintendent of the neighboring Wyandanch Public School System, a position she held until last year.
