With the arrival of 2023 comes a brand new slate of officer for the Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and Vicinity. We offer a special shout out and salute to the outgoing officers of Pastor Keith Hayward, President, Dr. Vernon Shelton, Vice President .. for their outstanding dedication and work for MANA over the last several years, including the pandemic that disabled the organization for over 3 years. The MANA organization owes a debt of gratitude to all of them for the magnificent job they have done.
The new officers of the Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and Vicinity is led by Bishop Andy C. Lewter of the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral of Amityville, NY. Bishop Lewter as president follows in the footsteps of his father who organized MANA over 40 years ago when the North Amityville community was under seige and out of control with a crack epidemic that was centered on the corners of Great Neck Road and Albany Avenue.

Bishop Lewter is joined in leadership with Bishop Walter Willie of the Prayer Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Amityville, NY, Pastor Alexia Burgess-Huart (Secretary-Treasurer) of the Grace Community Church of Amityville, Rev. Christian Code (Secretary) Associate Minister of Bethel AME Church in Copiague. Minister Lynn Boone (Newspaper Editor), Associate Minister of the Bethel AME Church of Copiague, NY and Pastor Terrance Dayeof the Christian Life Center in Amityville.
In addition to the officers of MANA several other local clerics have agreed to make contributions to the life of the organization as columnist and correspondents to the MANA sponsored newspaper including: Dr. Vernon Shelton of the Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Amityville, Pastor Noreen Davis of the Fresh Oil Church in Wyandanch and Overseer Regina Carr of Amityville. All of these individuals bring a wealth of experience and passion to their positions which insures that the future of MANA will beam bright.
At present, there is a weekly gathering of clergypersons from all across Suffolk County that takes place on Saturday evenings at 6 PM, Led by Bishop Walter Willie on Zoom. Bishop Willie has agreed to place MANA on the agenda of the weekly zoom call, once a month so that the business of MANA can take place. In addition to regular meetings, the Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and Vicinity will resurrect its dormant monthly newspaper and dedicate it to Apostle Charles Jones, who published a local religious newspaper call “The Gospel Express”.
While arrangements for an installation service has not yet been set, please stay tuned for updated information on when the installation will take place. In the meantime, we are delighted to congratulations these individuals on accepting the challenge of directing the Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and Vicinity in the wake of the Covid Pandemic.
