We Made It

Hezekiah Walker, the contemporary gospel legend, hit a homerun, with this song title in 2002.  However, this year, the song hit differently for me in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. When I thought about the challenges, accomplishments, and the spiritual move of God in our lives, all I could say was “We Made It!”

Christian Uprise Thru Edification Discipleship Ministry, Inc. has celebrated our 14th anniversary. “We made it; we survived!” We overcame the pandemic, members walking away, sickness and deaths, and the everyday challenges of ministry. C.U.T.E. began with a vision, and has grown to become a movement. We have our monthly Gathering, weekly prayer conference call, bi-weekly bible study and Elder’s class.  This year we birthed our B.L.O.O.M. (Believing Ladies on Our Mission), which mentors young women, ages 18-24; as well as the C.U.T.I.E.S. (Children Under the Influence of Edification and Salvation), ages 5-12, on a monthly basis.

This celebration was notorious because we had the privilege of ordaining for ministerial candidates. Minister Chrystal Wilkins-Dia was elected to Pastor; Minister Lisa Harvin was elevated to Elder; Elder Brenda Smith-

Williams was re-affirmed to the office of Elder; and Evangelist-elect Monique Williams-Owens was ordained an Evangelist. Today, I am godly proud of these elevations, and the work that each demonstrated in the work of the ministry.

Walking into our new fiscal year, we are focused on, “Pouring the Oil Until Restored (P.O.U.R).” The ministry is being equipped and empowered to reaching those that are lost, left behind, and less fortunate.  We will continue to reach out to the community to meet their needs and to our out the spirit of Christ. “We’re Pressing on Until we Reap!

We have made it by the grace of God and by our faith! God has lifted a standard within us, and we know “no weapon formed, shall prosper against us!” Some of us have survived COVID 19 (a few times), death of loved ones (spouses, parents, and etc.), homelessness (or houselessness), emotional and mental despair! The song says, “We made it this far by faith, our future is brighter than today, I’m holding on to my praise, I made it!

We are more than conquerors! We are overcomers. We continue to believe that

“We are pouring into the hearts of the people of God, to equip and empower them, to pour into the hearts if others.

As disciples of Christ, we are making disciples, one relationship at a time!” Join us on 3rd Saturdays, at 510 Throop Ave Brooklyn, NY, at 1 pm. You can also be part of our weekly Prayer Conference call, every Thursday, from 8:45 – 9:15; dial 1-267-807-9601; access code 972923956#.
