Bishop Andy C. Lewter’s Golden Jubilee: Celebrating 50 Years of Ministry

Amityville, NY – The congregation of the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral, along with friends, family, and well-wishers from across the nation, gathered this past weekend to celebrate a momentous milestone in the life of Bishop Andy C. Lewter. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bishop Lewter’s dedicated service in ministry, a journey that has touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the faith community.

Bishop Lewter, a native of Brooklyn, NY, began his theological journey with academic rigor, earning degrees from Oberlin College, Harvard Divinity School, and the United Theological Seminary. His intellectual pursuits laid a strong foundation for a dynamic ministry that would span five decades and multiple states.

Throughout his 50 years of service, Bishop Lewter has pastored several notable congregations, including the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ossining, NY, the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral in Amityville, NY, and the Queens Ministry in New York City. His leadership and vision have fostered spiritual growth and community development in each of these congregations, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and compassion.

Beyond his pastoral duties, Bishop Lewter has made significant strides as an entrepreneur in the broadcast industry. He owned and operated TV8 television station in Columbus, OH, as well as Church Talk TV and Radio stations on Long Island, NY. His ventures in media have provided platforms for spreading the gospel and engaging with a broader audience.

In addition to his pastoral and entrepreneurial endeavors, Bishop Lewter has been a dedicated educator. He has served on the faculty at Mercy College in Westchester, NY, The New York Theological Seminary in New York City, and currently as an adjunct professor at Beulah Heights Bible University in Atlanta, GA. His commitment to education extends to the digital realm, where he has created over 100 online courses in theology and church history, making theological education accessible to many.

A mentor and guide, Bishop Lewter has also trained over 50 individuals for the episcopacy in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. His influence and mentorship have shaped the next generation of church leaders, ensuring that his legacy will continue to thrive.

Most recently, Bishop Lewter was featured as a scholar and commentator on Netflix’s “Testament, The Story of Moses” alongside a number of other scholars, clergy and Biblical experts.

As Bishop Lewter looks forward to retirement, he envisions a future where he can continue and expand his online ministry from a warm climate. His passion for teaching and spreading the gospel remains undiminished, and he is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Bishop Lewter’s family has been a source of support and joy throughout his ministry. He is the proud father of two children, Stephanie Diane Lewter Williams of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and Andy C. Lewter III, who is deceased. Their love and encouragement have been pillars of strength for him over the years.
