MANA Mourns a Father of the Faith, Bishop Ronald H. Carter

Across the width and breath of Long Island there is no other cleric any more respected and admired than Bishop Ronald H. Carter of the Refuge Apostolic Church of Freeport, NY. On Friday, November 17, 2022 hundreds of mourners gathered at the Zion Cathedral Church of God in Christ to bid farewell to a giant of the faith in the person of Bishop Ronald Carter.

Bishop Carter had battled a series of illnesses over the years but as was stated during the eulogy, delivered by Bishop Rochfort, he had this ability bounce back from nearly every medical adversity, except this last one. Bishop Carter had been a member of the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, having served as the administrative assistant to Bishop William Bonner.

Bishop Carter is remembered by a number of members of the MANA organization, who were represented by their president, Bishop Andy C. Lewter. He was a man that inspired so many and encouraged even more. While not a technical member of MANA, he was so beloved that he earned the right to be called an “honorary member” of MANA because of hi longstanding friendship and comraderie with Dr. Andy C. “Daddy” Lewter, who was the founder of MANA.

While it seems that Long Island continues to lose a number of its leading clerics the passing of Bishop Carter signals the end of an era. The members of MANA pause to reflect upon the sterling life of this giant of a man and to thank God for permitting him to cross our paths for such a time as this.
