Elder Kathleen “Kathy” Smith was born on July 29, 1950. She grew up in Allendale, South Carolina and took on the role of a protector to her siblings. She took great pride in her academics growing up, graduating from Robert Smalls High School in Beaufort, South Carolina. Elder Kathy continued her studies and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Education.

In 1970, Elder Kathy met the love her life, Iverson Smith. He caught her eye as a nice-looking young man working at County Federal Savings and Loans. The two began dating and eventually married on March 4, 1972.

Elder Kathy Smith then joined Hollywood Baptist Church, Inc in 1972 under the leadership of Reverend Andy C. Lewter, Sr and Mother Ruth Fuller Lewter. She was apart of many ministries including the Gospel Chorus, Youth Choir, Food Pantry, and even worked administratively. Elder Smith played a pivotal role at Hollywood and was later ordained and elder in the Lord’s Church under Bishop Lewter. She loves helping others and would even give her last to help anyone in need. She believed strongly in community and was a pillar throughout Long Island.

Elder Kathy Smith pride and joy were her family. The services of Elder Kathleen “Kathy” Smith, was held at the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral in Amityville, NY on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She will be greatly missed. Please keep her entire family in your prayers.
