On Monday, January 16, 2023, the Long Island community gathered at Bethel AME Copiague to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King‘s Day and the Ministerial Alliance of North Amityville and Vicinity(MANA) Installation of Officers
The celebratory service was organized by Dr. Keith Hawayd and MANA’s newly installed President Bishop Andy C Lewter. The keynote speaker Senior Pastor of Zion Cathedral Cathedral Bishop Frank A. White, a resident of Amityville spoke about the life and legacy of Dr. King. He also addressed the community about the fear of God, reading from Psalms 34. 11 Come, my children, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Bishop Frank A. White led the installation of MANA’s new officers Sr. Pastor of Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral Bishop Andy C. Lewter as President, Sr. Pastor of Prayer Tabernacle Church of God in Christ Bishop Walter Willie as the Vice President, Sr. Pastor of Bethel AME Dr. Keith Hayward as Political Liaison. Pastor of Family & Community Church and Licentiate of Bethel AME Lynn Boone as Editor, Senior Pastor Christian Life Center Pastor Terrance Day as Social Media Director, Associate Minister of Bethel AME Church, Rev. Christian Code, Secretary and Elder Deidrea Sealy of Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral as Administrator.
The Dr. Martin Luther King‘s Day service was full of members of the community, clergy, community leaders, and politicians, such as Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone, who address the community about police reform. The celebration concluded by recognizing Long Island Clergy from churches all across Long Island.
